Northstar MMA is a mixed martial arts gym in Chiang Mai, open since 25 October 2026. We teach striking, wrestling and ground fighting as one game, in small evening and weekend classes on Tunghotel Road, Wat Ket.
Every class starts with fundamentals. Beginners train next to people who compete, at a pace that suits them. Sparring is controlled and it is optional until you are ready. That is what "all skill levels welcome" means here.

Nervous? Good.
Most people worry about the same four things before their first MMA class. Here are the short answers.
Will I get hurt? MMA is a contact sport and knocks happen, but Fundamentals is drilling, not fighting. You work at a pace you control.
Am I fit enough? You get fit by training. Rest when you need to.
What do I wear? Gym clothes. Rent gloves and shin guards here for 50 THB each.
Do I need experience? No. Fundamentals assumes none.

Questions
Do I need any experience to join an MMA class?
No. MMA Fundamentals is built for people who have never trained. Coaches teach every technique from the start, and you work with a partner at a controlled pace.
Will I have to spar in my first class?
No. Sparring has its own class (Wednesday 18:45 and Sunday 11:15) and it is optional. Most beginners spend their first weeks in Fundamentals and join sparring when they and the coaches feel they are ready.
What should I bring?
Comfortable workout clothes, water and a towel. If you don't have gloves or shin guards, you can rent them at the gym for 50 THB each.
How much does it cost to train?
A 1-day pass is 400 THB. Passes for 7, 15 and 30 days cost 1,200, 2,200 and 3,000 THB, and every pass covers every class. Pay in cash or by Thai QR bank transfer; we don't take credit cards. See all prices.
